Butterflyfish are a mostly peaceful fish that may fight with other butterflyfish or similar looking fish.
They prefer a larger well-established aquarium with lots of live rock and hiding spots.
They may pick at certain corals and poke their nose in crevices to find inverts to eat, so use caution in a reef tank.
Butterflyfish typically live 5-10 years, and are medium-sized getting up to 6 inches.
They can be picky eaters and shy at first, but are very active when they get more comfortable.
They should be fed a variety of dry and frozen foods 1-2 times daily.
